Surveillance Measures on Stocks – August 2025 Update
To keep the stock market safe and fair for everyone, SEBI and stock exchanges use special surveillance measures. These rules help stop sudden price jumps or falls and protect investors from risky trades.
Here’s what’s changing in August 2025:
1. Enhanced Surveillance Measure (ESM) – Stage II
These stocks will move to Trade-to-Trade (T2T) category.
Price can move only up or down by 2% in a day.
Trading will happen every day, but only through periodic call auctions.
2. Graded Surveillance Measure (GSM) – Stage III
Trading allowed only once a week (every Monday or the first trading day of the week).
Buyers must pay 100% of the trade value upfront as an Additional Surveillance Deposit (ASD).
3. Additional Surveillance Measure (ASM)
These stocks are under Insolvency Resolution Process (IRP) as per the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
Trading allowed only once a week (every Monday or first trading day of the week).
